Hi all,
I recently (3 days) took up this new hobby of gardening, and have been SO excited about it !! I found these beautiful plants, but am unable to identify them, hence give them proper care (water \ sunlight), please help me identify these. Thanks in advance :-)

Looks like a type of elephant ear to me. I'm sure there is someone else in the forum that knows more about it but look at this link to see if it is the same plant.

Hey TG, thanks a ton, i checked around a bit, it IS Amazon Alocasia, Elephant's Ear !! An interesting fact - It is a highly poisonous plant, will keep that in mind :-)

I am still looking for info on the other two

The second one is a snake plant - AKA mother-in-law's tongue

Hey Shad,
I wanted the right most one in that last pic, but I think there was some confusion, so i changed the pic to be more recognisable now.

I think the last one is something from the dracaena family, but i'm wondering what exactly its called.

I guess when you said "I am still looking for info on the other two" you were referring to a different thread? I assumed you were talking about the other two plants.

No harm done!

(and it's still a lovely pot!) :-D

I meant the other two pics, there are a total of 3 pics in the original post. TG discovered the first as Elephants ear, i am still looking for info on the 2nd and 3rd plant.
And yah, lovely pot indeed !

Hiya smita.me1, the other day you helped me by pasting my photo in a post. Would you mind telling me how I can do that? I can't work it out. I have some other plants that need identifying :)

Hi Smita, your second plant is a Calathea ornata and the third one is a dracaena. Have you noticed how the leaves of the Calathea become vertical at night? That's an interesting characteristic of all varieties of Calathea. Enjoy your new hobby!
